How to Predict Possible Answers in the Listening Test
In the Listening module you are given time to look at the questions before you hear the recording. Use this time to predict the type of information you need to listen for – is it a number, an amount, a time, a date, a person’s name, a street or town name or some other information?
You may be asked to complete a table or label a diagram in the test. Try and predict the missing information from the context. The situation may be to register for something - think about what you need to do this, for example: obtaining a student card - maybe you will be asked to provide some ID - one type of ID will be mentioned (e.g. passport) but what other types of ID are there? Here the answer could be a driving licence or identity card.
This website has a useful exercise for predicting the answers to a listening passage.
